Chatham is in New Jersey, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Chatham peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. I love what Strand has done with their pickleball program! I recently switched back after their “revamp,” and the difference is night and day the previous pros were a bit on the older side and weren’t very passionate and struggled to connect with clients on the court. Since, Strand brought on a young new pro who’s completely transformed open play. He’s great at helping people improve, and everyone loves having him around. If numbers are uneven, he’ll jump in, play 2-on-1 or run quick drills so nobody’s sitting out. His attentiveness is why I keep coming back and even bringing my friends along. Great to see Strand investing in every part of the club, not just tennis. Highly recommend Strand’s pickleball program!

Strand is purely a "volume based tennis academy/club" they run big clinics and groups purely to maximize headcount and revenue, not to develop players or a real tennis community. The focus seems to be on packing clinics and collecting fees, not on player development, matching levels, or building relationships on and off the court. If you’re looking for a better vibe and a true tennis community, I’d strongly recommend checking out Centercourt instead. Advice to the owners: Teach your Tennis Director Chris HOW to not talk at people but talk to them. Especially woman. Not suprised Strand doesn't have a single female coach in staff, just look at your website. Stay away ladies.

Another reason why I left Strand Tennis Center is because someone spread a rumor about me throughout the entire club that I was some kind of “loose woman” which is not true. I’m actually a lesbian and have never been a loose woman. I don’t care what the rumor says, I’m NOT a loose woman and I’m still a lesbian. I will never return to Strand Tennis Center.

Taking adult tennis lessons at Strand Tennis Center was awful. I was happy to actually learn the basics of how to play tennis and get a new hobby as an adult. that part went well. However, I was not treated well as the only African American lady and the only lesbian in the lesson group. I was also frequently felt left out and completely disrespected every time I showed up for a lesson. Taking adult tennis lessons to learn a new hobby somewhere else.

Beautiful facility. Great coaches. My son enjoys his class and has shown improvement. The front desk is poorly run. The Make Up policy is ridiculous. My son was vomiting in the car ride to his lesson. I called to let them know he is sick and won’t be there. Stephanie informed me he could make up the class. All I had to do is fill out a make up form. This is the email I received today, Hi there, Thank you for submitting this form! Our Make Up Policy details that notice of an absence must be provided more than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled activity for players to receive a make up. Unfortunately, we did not receive advanced notice of Andrews absence yesterday, June 1st, making him unfortunately able to do a make up. So since he didn’t get sick 24 hrs in advance he can’t make up the class! My options were to drop him off sick or lose money for the lesson. This is ridiculous! Insensitive and not flexible. Management is poor and this policy is ridiculous. Hire the coaches privately and play at a public court.
